Do All You Have Agreed to Do

Do All You Have Agreed to Do

Last year we finalized Jenco’s principles. The very first principle is: Do all you have agreed to do. This is so incredibly powerful. It seems so simple, but in my experience I’ve found that sometimes people just get busy and don’t end up holding up their end of the bargain. We’ve all been there before – we told Mike, who called earlier in the day, we’d get back to him with an answer by the…

Reduce Your Downtime

Reduce Your Downtime

Most electrical failures occur because of increased resistance, which creates excess heat. This added resistance in an electrical circuit can be caused by loose wire terminations, faulty components, aging systems, overloaded branches or just poor workmanship. Through the use of a thermal camera, we are able to pinpoint problem areas and create an action plan for correcting the issue before the breakdown occurs – saving you time, money and lost opportunities. A huge advantage of…

Open Your Door!

Open Your Door!

For the last several months I noticed that Kelly has been leaving his door open all throughout the day – even when he is in meetings or at lunch. In my last two years of working at Jenco I’ve never known him to have his door open all day – he’d shut it during meetings or when he was super busy, but now it’s open 90% of the time. So I asked him, what gives?…

Based on feedback you guys all seem to be enjoying it as well! We plan to continue Lunch on Jenco, so keep an eye out for us. We visited 5 sites in July: Sunrise Elementary School, Drury…

Could you be saving $20K?

Could you be saving $20K?

A study released in 2012 brought to light that professionals lose 31 hours per month on unproductive meetings. Think about that. Four work days per month are wasted! Another study found that 73% of professionals admit to working on something unrelated to the meeting during the meeting. Why bother even going? So what are these unproductive meetings costing? Well, time obviously. But what about the money that is drifting away? Check out this calculator to…

Jenco is a learning organization, and we can prove it!

Jenco is a learning organization, and we can prove it!

Last Friday Adam Botel, Rafi Abdullah and Richard Webster were three of thirty electricians who graduated from the Arizona Builders Alliance Apprenticeship Program. If you see them around the jobsites be sure to congratulate them! From all of us at the office we’d like to say, “Congrats guys!” Currently, we have 20% of our field staff enrolled in various stages of the ABA Apprenticeship Program, and another 3 guys are expected to graduate next year.…

Lunch on Jenco Kickoff

Lunch on Jenco Kickoff

With the summer in full swing, Kim Anderson and I thought it would be fun to visit the guys out on the jobsites, bring them a nice cold lunch and lots of cold water of course. Last week we picked up Jimmy Johns and headed out to Desert Shadows Middle School. Thank you guys for letting us crash your lunch – hope you enjoyed! Jim Szoke is one of the Foremen on site and was…

The Results Are In!

We are excited to announce that Jen Electric was ranked 7th and Jenco was ranked 10th in the large staff commercial electrical contractor category! Let’s see what happens in the coming years when we have our names combined! Thank you to all who voted!

Things Easton Will Never Experience…

Things Easton Will Never Experience…

Last night my family and I were talking about how much things have changed because of technology. My parents were reminiscing about how when they were at Goulder Electric (back in the day) they used to have pagers and CB radios for the office staff to communicate with the guys in the field. Can you imagine still being stuck with that old technology? Think about how much longer things took back then and how hard it…

Employee Spotlight: Jennifer Thompson

Employee Spotlight: Jennifer Thompson

This month we are featuring Jennifer Thompson (Human Resources) for her work with the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) organization.  Sadly, on May 5, 2007 Jennifer lost her oldest child, Felicia, when she was involved in a car crash and killed by an underage drunk driver. In honor of her daughter, and in the spirit of keeping her memory alive, Jennifer decided to take action. She has spent countless hours speaking at events, educating others,…

February Employee Spotlight

This month we are happy to present another employee who has proven to be an asset to the Jenco team- Donavan Warner. Several times Donavan was praised for his willingness to volunteer for tasks and his obvious desire to help others by sharing his knowledge and lending a hand. Foreman, Ralph Sanchez, was very pleased in working with Donavan noting his drive, hard work ethic, and willingness to share his knowledge and experience. Donavan recently…

Challenge Accepted

Challenge Accepted

This week I challenged the Jenco office team to a challenge of sorts,  a marshmallow challenge. We divided everyone up and presented them with a kit consisting of 20 sticks of spaghetti noodles, 1 yard of tape,   1 yard of string and 1 marshmallow. The challenge was to build the  tallest freestanding structure with the marshmallow on top in 18 minutes. This very challenge has been studied with numerous groups throughout the world. Interestingly enough…
